Embrace Change

Embrace Change

This morning, I led our weekly staff devotions:
"God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change; the courage to change the things we can; and the wisdom to know the difference." This is a prayer we are all very familiar with and personally for me, I lean on a lot, which tells me, change is always happening. Today, we are in a season of change...and change is important, because without it, we do not grow.
Often, we do not like change when it's happening, because it makes us uncomfortable and as humans, we do not like to be uncomfortable, however, change brings out our courage, our inspiration, our drive, our grit - change gets our minds going...and if we allow enough time to pass, the reasons for the change becomes evident and we come to the realize that it was necessary. My father always used to say to me - what doesn’t kill you, will only make you stronger - so with that in mind, when change comes along, and it makes you shift in your seat and you become uncomfortable - just sit tight, embrace the moment and stay positive:
Dear Creator God, as we move with the ebb and flow in these seasons of change, we ask for your guidance of our footsteps, minds and hearts. We thank you for these seasons of change, because without, we would not grow with you and with your ever-changing Kingdom. We lift up all those who are in the midst of change and are feeling uneasy. We pray that you comfort and ease their hearts and minds…and we pray that they will soon discover the necessity of the change and the new and wonderful opportunities opening up to them. Amen
“How strange that the nature of life is change, yet the nature of human beings is to resist change. And how ironic that the difficult times we fear might ruin us are the very ones that can break us open and help us blossom into who we were meant to be.” (Broken Open: How Difficult Times Can Help Us Grow by Elizabeth Lesser)
